Each Seminar Builds Upon Previous Ones

Each Seminar Builds Upon Previous Ones

Each seminar within the Teaching To Transform Not Inform series builds upon previous ones so teachers have a linear path for developing more and more advanced teaching skills. For example, the first seminar (Foundational Principles for Making an Informational Sunday School Lesson...TRANSFORMATIONAL) covers the major biblical principles and concepts related to teaching the head and the heart. It looks at the attitudes, priorities, goals, and foundational principles that help you maximize your impact as a teacher. Then, the second seminar (How to Teach a Transformational Sunday School Lesson...STEP-BY-STEP ) assumes teachers already understand the content within the first seminar and builds upon it by giving them a simple, practical, step-by-step process for teaching transformational Bible lessons. It explains the seven teaching elements that should be included in every lesson that has transformation as its main objective.

Sunday School
Training and Equipping Investment

teaching a Bible study without rambling

Next week, millions of people will visit churches and Bible studies hoping to learn how to deepen their relationship with God and honor him within our contemporary culture. If you are a teacher, some of these individuals will visit your Sunday school class and give you the opportunity to be one of those who spiritually guides them throughout this lifetime. Whether or not they continue to visit and join your class has a great deal to do with your ability to transform their lives through your teaching ministry.

This is why training is an investment. It is not only an investment in your Sunday school teachers and church but also in those who visit your church and eventually become members!

Sunday school training can be free

My goal is to train teachers to fulfill the Great Commission through their teaching ministry at no cost to your church or organization. This can be accomplished when a few different churches participate in the training. Here's how it works.

  • Host pays a $200, non-refundable, deposit.
  • Host pays travel expenses. This includes transportation to the location (airplane or car) and during the conference (car rental if necessary). If I'm already in the area for another conference, and you schedule a conference before or after that one, then the travel costs are proportionally divided between the different hosts.
  • Host opens the training up to other churches and advertises the event.
  • The registration fee for attendees is $20 per person or $30 per couple.
  • Host keeps $5 of each registration fee.

Here's how it is free

Here's how the training can be free for the host. If 130 teachers come to learn how to be a transformational teacher (which is realistic if you have a few other churches bringing their teachers), then the expenses are offset by the registration fee.

    Initial Investment:

        • $200 deposit
        • $300 travel    (this will be the biggest variable since I may drive or fly to the location, and the trip could
include multiple conferences so the overall cost is proportionally divided. Let's just say
                                $300 for now.)
        • $100 hotel
        • $50 meals
           $650 Total expenses

    Income:
        • 130 teachers attend X $5 per teacher goes to host = $650

So, in addition to equipping 130 teachers to fulfill the Great Commission through their teaching ministry, it comes with a small financial cost.

What will I teach? Who will I teach? Where will I teach?

We offer a variety of conferences and need instructors for all of them. Check out our instructor training schedule to find out what trainings we are offering this year.

As an instructor you will be trained to teach in churches and Christian schools. For example, you'll start locally with churches averaging less than 500 people in worship attendance or Christian schools with student bodies of less than 500. Once you have more experience, you can qualify to teach in larger crowds throughout the U.S.

After being trained, most of our instructors start with their own church and go from there. We recommend networking close to home with your local pastor, Christian leaders, and friends when you first begin teaching our conferences.

Don't worry—all of this will be covered at Instructor Training. We promise not to leave you to do this all on your own!

How do I sign up?

The first step is reading through this Instructor FAQ information. Then check the training schedule to see what training programs are currently being offered. After deciding what conference you want to teach, register for our Instructor Training Program by completing the Instructor Interest Form. Once we receive your completed form, we'll email you with more details.

Sunday School Training Conference

Sunday school training conference 1:
"Foundational Principles for Making an
Informational Sunday School Lesson...
TRANSFORMATIONAL"

Reason for Sunday school training conferences: In Matthew 28:19–20, Jesus calls us to share the gospel with the entire world, but he does not stop there. He then gives teachers a clear and concise teaching goal: “Therefore go and make disciples…teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Notice that he does not say, teach people WHAT to obey or even HOW to obey; rather, Jesus says, “make disciples…teaching them TO OBEY.” As a result, Jesus makes life-altering transformation (not simply information or explanation) our primary teaching goal.

The first conference M28:20 offers covers the major biblical principles and concepts related to effectively teaching the head and the heart. The five biblical keys discussed look at the attitudes, priorities, goals, and foundational principles that help you maximize your impact as a Sunday school teacher.

Create a Ripple That Continues into Eternity

Sunday school training conference key point: It is far more than reading the text and explaining what occurred; it’s changing lives through the Word.

Learn How to Teach
the Head and the Heart

Learn how to fulfill the Great Commission

small-group-bible-studyAn M28:20 Teaching To Transform Not Inform live seminar will equip your teachers to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) through their teaching ministry. It first helps them understand how their teaching ministry is central to fulfilling the Great Commission, then second, it specifically teaches them how to change an informationally or educationally oriented lesson into a life-altering transformational one. It reveals how to not only teach the head but also the heart which results in changed lives.

Learn specific, how-to, teaching methods

The seminars are packed with core principles and specific, how-to, teaching methods. In order to cover all the key material, the seminars have been streamlined so that only that which is absolutely essential is included. Even if your teachers have already had a fair amount of training, it is common to hear them say,

I've never heard this before . . . I wish I understood this 20 years ago!

The reason much of the seminar content is new is because we focus on equipping teachers how to teach both the head and the heart.

Learn how to teach them to obey

Many seminars do a great job of explaining how to teach a relevant, applicable, educationally-oriented Bible lesson, but they are a little less clear on what to do when listeners have a hard time personally accepting or applying the truth. Consequently, teachers often have a pretty good understanding of how to transfer truths from the Bible to the cognitive part of the listener's head where they understand the biblical principles and application. However, they aren't always sure how to help those who understand the lesson yet fail to integrate it into their life for one reason or another.

As a result, listeners learn WHAT the Bible says and HOW they can apply it, but for some reason, it doesn't always CHANGE their life. In other words, your teachers have learned how to teach the head, but are less clear on how to teach the heart. Because Jesus has called us to "teach them to obey" rather than "teach them to understand," the Teaching To Transform Not Inform series has been created to equip your teachers to teach both the head and the heart.
